Hojo-en Square 放生園

A square of “Omotenashi” welcoming visitors to Dogo

Located in front of Dogo Onsen station, Hojo-en Square is popular for both visitors and locals to take a soothing and refreshing footbath. The water is sourced from the boiler used at the Dogo Onsen Honkan between 1891 and 1954. The figures of the mechanical clock next to Hojo-en Square are characters from the novel “Botchan” by Soseki Natsume and come to life every hour from 8am to 10pm. Why not enjoy a footbath as the characters come to life?
