The Warei Taisai Uwajima Ushi-Oni Festival is one of the major summer festivals of Shikoku. The festival begins with the grand Gaiya Carnival where the stars of the festival are the gigantic bull-shaped floats paraded down the streets. The fireworks displays held over two consecutive nights are a particular highlight and include underwater fireworks and fireworks launched over the sea. Get close to focal point of the fireworks display for an incredible view that you will find impossible to turn away from! On the last day of the festival, fireworks are shot off one after another toward the grand finale, the stirring “Hashirikomi”.
